every summer after

This was my favorite read of 2022! Fortune’s writing style is immediately captivating. She writes with poise and emotion while using moderately higher-level vocabulary that is still easy to connect with. This story was nostalgic and a rollercoaster of emotion that I couldn’t put down. Although the concept seems like it could be a teen read (two kids growing up together throughout the summers falling in and out of love), it does not shy away from very “adult” problems and real-world issues. As much as we want to live in the lovesick romance of a relationship, you’re reminded that life isn’t always perfect or the way we think it should be. This is a heartfelt story of summer love, loss, and redemption all wrapped in a messy, half-opened bow. And if you think you can predict the ending – think again. Have the tissues and the Ben and Jerry’s ready for this one.
